September 2008 Update
Reel Peace is pleased to announce that Venice is back to normal. We started fishing last friday and after taking a day to find the new pattern, we are back on the fish. We have found the tuna and we are seeing some nice late season dolphin as well. The Live bait situation is actually much better than it was before the storms. The Mullet are actually starting to stage in the passes already, which bodes well for our fall Tuna season in which the big Yellowfin move in close to chase the spawning Mullet. The future looks bright for fishing out of Venice.
There of course were some minor problems and damage caused by this year's storms but almost all have been taken care of or will be taken care of very soon. Hwy 23 has re opened and several hotel's and restaurants are open and dieing for clients. Cypress Cove Lodge and restaurant are still closed but hope to reopen soon. In the near future, we are recommending that our clients stay at Venice Inn (504) 534-7703 or Cajun Fishing adventures (504) 559-5111. Both places will take great care of our clients.
This may be one of the best times of year to fish in Venice. The fall is well known for bigger than average Tuna, with late Dolphin and early Wahoo thrown in as a bonus. With the local storms, the competition for fish will be reduced and our clients should reep the benefits. Come fish with us this Fall, You will not be disappointed.
