Capt. Devlin - Reel Peace Charters
Venice, LA USA
Fall Tuna fishing is really ramping up. The Mullet are schooling and the tuna are growing. On Saturday, I had team Wells Fargo and we had a blast. We started out by throing the net and in the first throw, we had all of the mullet that we wanted. We headed down river and out of the pass in 3-4s, making it hard to see any open water schools. We stopped at a close rig that was surounded by mullet but only sharks were there eating them. At our next stop, we watched a boat Hook a stud on a Mullet but no action for us. We made one more move and found a bunch of good fish on the sonar. Capt. Andy was already there with the Strawbridge crew. They were actually fighting a stud when we pulled up.It took us a while but we eventually hooked our first fish as well. He ate 100 pound Seaguar so we put some heat on him and put a good 70 pounder in the box pretty quickly. We pulled back up ad imeaditly hooked another good one. It was good enough that the guys had me pull in the other bait and said that this is it. No problem, I pulled it in and we drifted off fighting the fish. An hour later, I was glad that I had pulled the other bait in because our fish was still at 100 feet and not budging. About that time Andy called to say that after two and a half hours, they lost the fish that they were fighting right at the boat. He said that it was about 180 and had huge sickle fins. We played a little rod swapping and after another 20 minutes put a 148 in the boat. He had as much heart as any fish that I have ever seen. My guys were ready to get in for the Texas-Texas Tech game and we headed to the house. All in all, it was a great day on the water.Peace was out today but I havn't gotten a report yet. Hopefully they found some good ones today as well.
We have openings all week and some nice weather predicted most of the week. Give us a call to put some sushi in the fridge.
