FiSh FLoPpinG FuN!

For the first time in my life (all 15 years of it) I went fishing offshore!
Me, my mom, dad and another couple along with their son went out on the REEL JOB! We left from the dock early >and I mean EARLY< In attempt to stay warm, I took my blanket and laid in the front of the boat…before too long I was sound asleep.  It only took one rough patch for me to find myself laying on the boat floor. That wasn’t fun…..just ask Bryson(“I was dreaming that I was falling then I woke up and realized I actually was”) :p

We started trolling for tuna…AND WE FOUND THEM!! I caught a black fin tuna! That was not an easy thing to do at all.  I thought I was in the “weight room” a lot but if I could hardly catch a 30 lb tuna, I’d never get a bigger one into the boat Þbut just wait until next time-I will catch a bigger fish!! The tuna didn’t hang around long though so we made our way to an offshore rig (hoping for a huge amberjack) but grouper seemed to be hungrier!! The grossest experience I had on the boat was when my tuna freed itself from the gaff, then start flopping all over the back of the boat.  This left me COVERED in fish blood!! It was sooooo…sick! LOL! The scariest part of my trip was when Bryson offered to use the gaff to get my fish out of the water….and well….I don’t quite trust a 18 year old boy with a gaff anywhere near me! :p

We took home 15 grouper, a trigger fish, and 6 tuna but I took home so much more!  The memories I made on that boat will stay with me forever! It also has instilled in me a passion for the ocean! It was both relaxing and enjoyable…I actually went without my cell phone the whole trip!!! that’s ok though being 20 miles offshore is a very humbling experience…its like we were at the mercy of the ocean. I couldn’t have asked for a better captain either! Delvin cared about us [almost as much as he does fishing] The trip was tiring but very fun!! I can’t wait for my next trip out!!!! :)
