Everything seems to be coming together very well down here in Venice. We finally have cooperative fish and great weather. This weekend the Tuna fishing was solid. Mike did very well under less than ideal conditions. Sunday Mike,Darryl and andy all put several tuna in the box and each added something extra. Mike had a little dolphin and Darryl and Andy had some very nice jacks. My crew for sunday needed a late start so we played jacks or better. Well, the grouper were not biting so it was just jacks but they avaraged about 55 pounds. Not too shabby.Yesterday it was just mike and me fishing. We had totaly oppisite experiences. Mike tuna fished and I had another request for grouper. With the tuna fishing so good,I tried to talk them into tuna fishing but they really wanted grouper. Mike made bait easily for the tuna while I struggled. In fact, we fished for bait until almost noon with just 6 hard tails to show for it. We stopped at a deep water rig and put 4 grouper in the box but the current was so heavy that I couldn't keep the boat on top of the fish. Mike found no current at all. We moved on and put some more of the stud jacks in the boat before heading in. Mike fished hard for just three yellowfin bites all day. Lucily, the seemingly ever preasent sharks of late gave them a break and they got all three in the boat.
I am headed out in a few minutes to go swordfishing. Hopefully we will have a littlkr current for that. Mike and Darryl are out tuna fishing, so we should have a good report tommrow.
